Future Approaches to Industrial Cooperation and the Development of New Technologies: Introductory Remarks

This panel will be looking at the events of September 11, Operation Enduring Freedom, and the requirements for homeland security from an industry point of view. The subject to be discussed has two parts.

• One concerns the various aspects of industrial cooperation with European, Russian, and other, partners around the world. 
• The second part focuses on new technologies, including the processes and new operational concepts involved with these technologies. In that context, I am sure we will hear about Network Centric Warfare and that the non-American participants will be particularly eager to hear about it. 

I am hopeful that we will also hear a few words about the European situation, and how European industry can contribute.
